Audi of San Diego, one of the nation’s highest volume sellers of New and Pre-owned Audis realized the true value gained by having the right type of LED lighting solution from Bright Ideas. Prior to their new solution, the large showroom was utilizing nearly eighty 6” recessed can lights with 75 Watt Metal Halide Bulbs. Cue the Bright Ideas’s co-founders, Alex and Morgan. Using their in depth knowledge of the Kelvin Scale and its impact on car paints and finishes, they were able to pick the perfect light for the space.
The 75W indirect Halide trim and bulb sets were replaced with a Bright Ideas’ custom made 15W downlight featuring a direct projection of illumination onto the inventory and a truer color rendering. The result: the visibility was increased three fold, which means that drivers were able to better notice the inventory while making it easier to see the design details of the cars. Furthermore, once inside the space, the environment looked more inviting due to the clarity of the space. Cars look cleaner and newer; the floors now have a sparkle to them which casts a great upward lighting effect around the vehicles.
Based on the hours of operation of 84 hours per week, the lighting technology will last approximately 12 years. By reducing the consumption by 80%, Audi will realize an energy saving of $3,647 on an annual basis and $51,752 over the lifespan of the lights. They were able to break even on their investment in just 3 months and will enjoy a total return on investment of 3,177%!
